Vivaltus 2017

Vivaltus is the high-end project in Ribera del Duero of the Yllera-Martínez families in collaboration with prestigious wine maker Jean-Claude Berrouet. Located in Curiel de Duero, in the very heart of the appellation, the winery combines the best technology with traditional methodology and the experience of one of the most iconic winemakers in history. The project is based on working with some of the best vineyards in the region, some of them planted more than a century ago, alongside very precise viticulture and wine making procedures.

2017 was a hot and dry year, presenting complicated conditions for the vines, with droughts in both winter and spring. A harsh frost at the end of April damaged the seedlings, although fortunately the buds had not yet come out, and were therefore saved. The months of June and July were unusually hot, and these cumulative high temperatures went on to mark a hot year overall.
