Chateau Beychevelle Amiral de Beychevelle 2019

The wine’s namesake is the French Admiral Jean-Louis Nogaret de la Valette, the second owner of Château Beychevelle. The Admiral was so revered that ships would lower their sails as they passed his estate as a gesture of respect. Thus, the origin of the Château’s name, Beychevelle, which is derived from the Gascogne phrase "Bêcha vêla" or "baisse voile" (lower the sails). The nautical theme is continued with the famous emblem of the Château: a ship with a griffon-shaped prow.

The 2019 Amiral de Beychevelle is a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon and 32% Merlot, made with the same strict attention to detail as the Grand Vin, but more approachable in its youth.
